Pastor of Life Development

Job Classification: Exempt Full-Time
Reports to the Executive Pastor
Wage $45,000 – $65,000 depending on experience

Position Overview

The Life Development Pastor/Director will be responsible for the development and deepening of the spiritual health of our church’s Children, Junior High and High School students along with Young Adults. They will focus on creating a vibrant and growing spiritual formation process that develops passionate followers of Jesus while building strong teams of leaders within the ministries that support them. Along with age group specific services and experiences, they will be expected to facilitate youth camps, leader retreats, serving events, and some mission trips as deemed appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a strong, engaging, diverse and relational Life Development leadership team
  • Coordinate the spiritual development flow from one ministry into the next
  • Create a much needed Young Adults ministry
  • Lead regular Life Development team meetings with the Children’s Pastor, Director of Youth Ministry and yet to be established Director of Young Adults
  • Work alongside the Children’s Pastor and the Director of Youth Ministry to;
    • Cultivate adult and student volunteers for each ministry
    • Help facilitate smooth transitions for students from the Children’s Ministry to the Youth Ministry and from the Youth Ministry to the Young Adults Ministry
  • Coordinate with the Community Life Pastor to build biblically focused student Community Groups
  • Offer events and trips for young people to put their faith into action
  • Oversee weekly teaching and worship service experiences with a high standard of excellence
  • Collaborate with the Life Development team and other ministries throughout the week and during weekend experiences
  • Help plan, conduct, coordinate, evaluate, and select resources for the Children’s, Youth, and Young Adult programs

Skills

  • Knowledge and experience in building structures around spiritual development and leadership of, but not limited to; Children’s, Youth, and Young Adult ministries
  • Highly organized and capable of strategically building strong, sustainable programs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Multi-tasking team player with high energy, strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
  • Ability to build and lead teams
  • Led by mission more than preference
  • Familiar with production, current trends in media, event planning, and leadership building
  • Able to work with a team to create experiences while developing leaders and providing space for growth

Education and Experience

  • Preferred minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a staff member holding leadership capacity in a spiritual formation ministry
  • Preferred possession of a Bachelor’s degree in biblical studies or a related field
  • An alignment with the culture, beliefs, and practices of Kessid Church
  • Exhibits a track record of relational health and integrity within the church, family, and/or workplace
